Senior Project Engineer

Presently we are seeking a senior project engineer with direct experience developing electrical plans and specifications for a diverse range of municipal (water/wastewater), industrial, and commercial projects. The qualified candidate would be responsible for project scoping and scheduling, client interface, project management, and the detailed design of power distribution systems/control systems as described below. Senior Project Engineer IV.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (B. S.) in Electrical Engineering with 6-8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Role:

  • Design and develop project drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in managing projects including, but not limited to, project cost controls, manpower resource management, and scheduling.
  • Assist with employee training of engineering staff including, but not limited to, guidance in the use of standards, and company procedures.
  • Assist with marketing efforts including, but not limited to, marketing calls, information gathering, project scoping, and presentations.
  • Assist with Client management.

Responsibilities:

Technical:

  • Develop electrical site plans and detailed electrical plan drawings.
  • Develop one-line diagrams and interconnection drawings.
  • Develop electrical equipment elevation and detail drawings.
  • Develop control system block diagrams and interconnection drawings.
  • Develop control system schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Develop control panel elevation and detail drawings.
  • Develop electrical specifications.
  • Develop control system specifications (hardware and software).
  • Develop Process Functional Operation Descriptions.
  • Develop PLC/PC programs and HMI/SCADA applications.
  • Perform power system studies.
  • Perform lighting system studies.
  • Provide QC/QA review of own work and peer’s work.
  • Coordinate electrical design tasks with other disciplines.

Project planning/management:

  • Manage project scope and budgets.
  • Manage project schedules and manpower forecasts (resource loading).
  • Prepare project status reports for review by management.

Project Scoping:

  • Assist with the preparation of proposals, and responses to Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and Requests For Qualifications (RFQs).
  • Prepare project scope and man hour estimates, and review those prepared by others.

Business Development/Marketing:

  • Prepare detailed project description write-ups, and review those prepared by others.
  • Update/tailor personal and firm resumes.
  • Assist with development of other marketing information for use in business development presentations.
  • Develop/maintain relationship with existing and new Clients.
  • Participate in industry organizations.

Technical Presentations:

  • Assist with development of white papers and technical presentations.
  • Review technical presentations prepared by others.
  • Attend and/or participate in professional conferences and trade shows.

Training:

  • Continued professional development and training.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced staff.
  • Participate in Vendor demonstrations and training.
  • Solicit and share new reference material and product literature as it becomes available.
  • Keep up to date on new state-of-the-art technologies and trends.
